Erika + Jennifer // Pensacola, FL
Erika and Jennifer booked me only a month out from their intimate Pensacola Beach, FL wedding. We had one Facetime meeting and were instantly bonded. During our initial call I got to hear all about their story and the journey that had brought them up to this point for their day (and we talked all about both of our fur babies of course)
Their original wedding was a larger event and planned for earlier in the year. Then Covid reared it’s ugly head and they decided to cancel their original plan and have a small destination wedding in Pensacola Beach, FL at an AirBnb by the beach. Unfortunately October is still hurricane season in Florida and it wouldn’t be 2020 without a very very active hurricane season. Three weeks before their wedding, hurricane Sally rolled through and did a lot of direct damage to Pensacola Beach, FL and with that…their AirBnB was destroyed. Thankfully they were able to get a new beautiful AirBnB right down the road BUT the week of their wedding hurricane Delta was looming.
When I say I stalked the weather harder than I ever have leading up to their day...I’m not kidding. I was just a wee bit nervous it would be torrential downpours, floods and wind. No big deal right? Driving to Pensacola from Jacksonville had it’s moments where I had to pull over because visibility was so bad. It wasn’t looking promising for good weather or a beach ceremony. As I formulated back up plans for different shots if the weather was awful… just two hours before the ceremony, the sky completely cleared, the sun came out in full force, the breeze was perfect and not a cloud in the sky. It was like a completely different day and truly unbelievable. After all of the chaos these two dealt with for their wedding, they deserved THIS.
I was so beyond happy for Erika and Jennifer that they FINALLY were getting their day surrounded by their friends and family with beautiful weather that came out of nowhere. They got married at sunset and had the dreamiest clouds and light. That perfect calm after the storm light. It was beautiful in every way and truly special to be apart of.
