Suzie + James // Venice, Italy

When Suzie and James reached out, they were throwing out the idea of eloping somewhere epic but still trying to narrow down exactly where. I remember them casually asking “Would you be down for that?” through text. I remember I was driving and did a double take at my phone.

From there the plans started to formulate and Venice, Italy was the stunning destination they decided on and all the intricate planning for their day began. Nick and I were BEYOND ecstatic to do both photo and video for them somewhere neither of us had been yet and it felt surreal.

After the long travel journey there we remember arriving in Venice and feeling like we were on another planet. This place was just magical and didn’t seem real. We had a few days to explore as well as catch up on sleep and adjust from jet lag so by the time it was elopement day excitement was at an all time high for everyone. The morning of their wedding was a brisk 25 degrees but it didn’t matter and as they exchanged vows together realizing where they were and the moment they were in. Getting to be a part of this with them was honestly indescribable. We had many many pinch me moments not only on their day but this whole experience and trip.

After they exchanged vows, we wandered all over Venice for their photos and film which included stops for more comfy shoes along with pizza socks for Suzie and pizza as we ventured around. We ended the night with more pizza (of course!) and champagne in the Airbnb tub and finally an epic celebratory champagne pop in the streets of Venice as bar hoppers looked on in excitement for these two.

We happened to be there during the famous Carnival festival which is a huge event every year that people travel all over the world for! So many people in stunning ornate costumes and masks. It was an incredible bonus to be there during this and also have them get their own masks that we shot with.

After Venice, we all ventured to Tuscany, Florence and Rome together and then finally went our separate ways as Suzie and James went all over Europe for a long extended honeymoon built into their elopement. The best part? They did a first dance in every place they went to. Magical. Instead of a wedding Suzie and James opted for an experience of a lifetime to celebrate their love and we are absolutely here for it.

This was an absolute bucket list destination for us to shoot in and our inspired hearts will never forget that we were both able to create what we love to do in such an amazing location. The photos and film that we shot will forever be a core memory for us and we are so grateful they trusted us with their most special day in this beautiful place. Most importantly we gained life long friends with Suzie and James and we can’t express enough how much we love these two!
